Trombones

  • Yamaha YSL-354 Trombone (Student Model)

This is your “Go To” horn if you’re looking for a trombone for a new/beginning student. Also, if you’re tired of renting and want to own an instrument, this is a reasonably price alternative. I just finished cleaning it, aligned the hand slide and lubed everything that needs to be lubed. In other words, it plays as well as a brand-new trombone. I’ve also included a Yamaha #47 mouthpiece with it. This is exactly the mouthpiece you want for a beginner. The case is original and in great condition. The new version of this instrument costs almost $1900.00!!! So, $700.00 for a trombone in great condition is a real deal. Come check it out.

  • Yamaha YSL-548GO Trombone (Intermediate Model)

This is a Yamaha Allegro, which is a step-up model from your basic student model trombone. Certainly it adds an “F” attachment which is the round thing with the trigger. The bell is 8.5” in diameter, which is about a ½ inch bigger than a student model t-bone. And the overall tubing is .547" in diameter which is also slightly bigger than a student model horn. The material of the instrument is gold brass. All of this means that it’s a better sounding trombone and a bigger sounding trombone. This is what you want for concert band, symphonic band or marching band settings. As always, I cleaned it and aligned the hand slide so it plays like a new horn. It comes with a Yamaha 5G large shank mouthpiece and it’s in a virtually new ProTec case. The case has lots of extra room for anything you need to bring with you to your performances. Brand new I see that this instrument sells from $2300.00 to over $2700.00. Consequently, my selling price of $1600.00 is a super deal. Call my shop at 434-973-4299 and schedule an appointment to try out this t-bone.

  • Olds "S-22" Bass Trombone - SOLD

This is a classic bass trombone designed by “Mr. Bass Trombone” George Roberts, from back in the day. Like always, I disassembled the horn and cleaned every part. Of course, I did a bit of alignment on the hand slide, replaced the w/k cork and lubed both tuning slides. The horn and case are in very good condition. Call the shop at 434-973-4299 to come give this trombone a try.

  • Yamaha "YSL-354" Trombone (Student Model) - SOLD

This is a great student model trombone to start on. Any band director would be happy to see a student with this instrument. Of course, I disassembled the instrument and cleaned it within an inch of its life. I also did some alignment of the hand slide. All this means that it plays as good as it did when it was new. The New version of this horn sells for over $1500.00.

  • Bach "Liberty" Bass Trombone (Intermediate Model) - SOLD

If you’re looking for a good “step-up” model trombone then this is it! Of course, I have disassembled the instrument and cleaned it inside and out, aligned the hand slide and lubed & oiled everything that needs to be lubed and oiled. This horn has a good size 8” bell and a bore size of .547. I think the hand slide itself seems to be identical to a Bach 42 slide. I have also seen several reviews that make the same claim. The Bach 42 is a dramatically more expensive instrument, so this means that you’re getting an upgraded instrument at a more reasonable price. The bell tubing is an open wrap design which most trombonists, particularly professional trombonists, say that the overall playability of an open wrap is better because the air flow through the horn is less restricted. The horn comes with a 6 1/2A mouthpiece and the original case which is in great condition. This means, a great trombone and a great price. Call me at the shop, 434-973-4299, to schedule an appointment to check out this instrument.

  • 1941 King "2-B" Trombone - SOLD

This instrument is in pristine condition. On top of that, the bell section is “solid sterling silver”. Most trombones from this era have a brass bell that has been silver plated, but not this one. Again, the bell is “solid sterling silver”. Both the hand slide and the valve section function perfectly. Of course, I have disassembled the horn and flushed out every inch of tubing so, it’s clean as a whistle. And whistles are known for their cleanliness. Also, the case, which is original, is pristine. Quite frankly, the horn looks like it has never been used.
